Blackmores Betacarotene 6mg 50 capsules
A potent antioxidant and free radical scavenger naturally sourced from the algae Dunaliella salina. Betacarotene is converted into vitamin A as required by the body. This is essential for the healthy function of the body’s skin and mucous membranes such as the linings of the lungs and gastrointestinal tract, which are the body’s first line of defence against infection.
Features and benefits
- Natural source betacarotene, derived from the alga Dunaliella salina
- Easy-to-swallow capsule
- Supplementation may be of benefit for those who have an inadequate dietary intake of vitamin A
- Helps to maintain healthy mucous membranes
- Helps to reduce the risk of cell damage attributed to free radicals
How it works
Betacarotene is a precursor of vitamin A. The amount of betacarotene absorbed and converted to vitamin A depends on the individual's vitamin A status, betacarotene body stores, and the amount of betacarotene ingested. The amount of betacarotene converted to vitamin A decreases when body stores are full.
Vitamin A is essential for healthy skin function and repair, vision (especially night vision), for the maintenance of healthy mucous membranes including the stomach and lungs. It is also an antioxidant that reduces the risk of cellular damage caused by free radicals.
