(Eleutherococcus senticosus)

Eleuthero used to be referred to as Siberian Ginseng although it is not a true Ginseng. It does however display similar characteristics. Eleuthero is a popular herb in Russia , often brewed in the morning as a tea. It has also been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine although it is not as well known as Korean Ginseng.

Eleuthero is described as an adaptogen tonic, which is any herb that increases the nonspecific resistance of an organism to harmful influences, while generating a normalising action on bodily systems. They also support the adrenal glands and their function.

Due to its adaptogenic activity it may be used to assist the ability of the person to withstand adverse physical conditions such as heat, noise, motion, workload increase and exercise. It may also assist the ability of the individual to work effectively under stressful conditions.
