ROSE HIPS

The rose is considered the queen of flowers. They are part of the family that also includes peaches, almonds, apple and strawberry. The ancient Egyptians used the fragrant petals as air fresheners, and rose water as a popular perfume. But in herbal medicine it is after the beautiful petals have fallen from the flower that it is used.

The Rose hip contains many constituents, one of interest being its vitamin C content. Due to this content the herb can be useful in any situation where vitamin C is required. Vitamin C plays a number of roles in the body, including involvement in collagen synthesis, healthy cell development, healing of wounds, helping to provide integrity to the walls of the capillaries, and normal tissue growth and repair.
